Here's something I've discovered since joining Diaryland:

millions of kids now have online diaries/journals/blogs;
most are mind-numbingly derivative, but others sting
with original content and style.

anorexic girls refer to themselves as "anas", and their numbers, here on diaryland, alone, are astounding.

reading the diaries of brilliant teen girls can make me feel uninteresting, untalented, unwith-it, unyoung.

reading the diaries of brilliant teen girls can make me feel breathless and inspired; flash-forwarding images of loving my own daughter as she pushes. rebels. seeks. thrives.
