Okay.
The mysterious neck-throbbing, raw throat sans fever thing has evolved into a sneezing, trembling, watery-eyed, lung-hacking, head in a vise, puking thing. Still no fever, though, so I'm not sure how to label this. It's either a class 4 hurricane cold, or one steely-eyed bitch of a flu. Let's just call it NURSE RATCHED for now.
